Artist Statement
REFLECTION consists of images captured while kayaking in Muskoka, which is an activity I engage in regularly to reflect and mindfully connect with my environment.
These painterly images challenge the viewer's perception by playing with the idea of abstraction versus realism. The audience is encouraged to question what it is they are looking at and to see it for more than what it is.
This work relates to impressionist landscape painting and encourages drawing inspiration from and connecting with nature to increase environmental awareness and respect.
